KG’s Blog Post #166 – 1/4/13 12:30am (TOC, Picked up 4 mph club speed)

Quick thought before the golf season starts up. How pathetic it is that many many high profiled names have decided to not play in the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii. I understand that it’s not the greatest of tracks, but good lord how selfish can we be? First, it’s a limited field so besides being easier to win it’s also hard to create a buzz without the stud names. Two, because these guys are now so rich so soon they simply say, why bother, and seem to forget why & how they have earned their boat loads of cash. They owe the Tour and the sponsors, and must suck it up even if they don’t like the place. Golf is in trouble and the Tour will be in trouble in about 10 years but these guys won’t care, because their days will be close to done, or have so much they won’t give a hoot. This theory that ‘oh boy we travel & work so hard’ is such a crock of skunk ship. Golf is not hard, and it’s not work period. It’s not hard to practice or work on the game my friends. The idea that 25 weeks or so is rough is like saying Obama and the rest of the nuts on the hill are working too! It’s simply an honor to play in the Tournament of Champions, so why not understand that. The big guns owe it to all, period.

I heard Norman say once that he’s done enough for golf and doesn’t really owe it anymore. Egos just don’t get it. Norman may have turned his golf money into more, and that’s great, but he wouldn’t have had those chances without the fame and money golf gave him. I firmly believe you owe golf till the day you go belly in the hole! It’s a shame that some of the big boys don’t get that all the time.  Our new foot is a semi, Oh Christ I don’t know success.

It’s a process, but I’m happy so far we have gained 4 miles per hour club head speed so that’s a big help. However, it’s much harder to figure out how to swing without falling on my fat ass. Not really fat anymore, sadly. Mostly all muscle now. First lie of 2013.  Going up next week to make some more adjustments so hopefully step two is bit better.

Be good my friends,

Ken

Ken, I have always said that if golf was work, people wouldn’t pay to do it for fun during their precious free time. No one makes a hobby out of what I do for a living.

First lie, I like that. You are a truthful man, Ken Green.
