KG’s Blog Post #35 – 1/30/10 8:27pm

It’s me, the blogging 2-sized foot nut,

OK, Hello to all. Today I will say something different – almost… My boy has been laid to rest in NM and I truly believe she will snag him when all is settled and cremate him as she always was planning.

On another note, I have increased (per the doctor of course) the mg’s of a certain medicine and have gone 4 days now with only a few of those disgusting drop-to-the-ground pain surges. I hope this works. It’s either that or the big man says it’s just time for a break.

I slapped the semi-round ball around again today, and once again I really think once Sir Kostis (my golf teacher) gets a hold of me

we can really start to find out whether we can accomplish this goal.

I don’t have much heart left, but I promise I’m gonna grow this pig to monster proportions and attack life and golf with the utmost vigor, oil, grease, skill, luck, love and faith. If that’s not enough, I’ll throw in some good putting.

My heart and love goes out to all,
Ken

You have the fearless heart of a champion. God built you that way. He meant it in the Bible when he said he wouldn’t give us more than we can bear. It must feel so overwhelming and daunting- but know this; God has made you of finer, stronger stuff than most people. I believe this with all my heart and I believe in you. Keep talking to God– even if it’s just to tell him how you feel about everything that has happened to you. He will pull you through. There are wondrous things in your future. Just get up in the morning and use that astounding focus you have to look to the future. He will show you how much he loves you and you will be happy again. Just hold on, buddy.

    Hi Ken,
What a I life you’ve had so far! Everybody has there share but it seems that fate doles out more
hits to those who it feels can take it and that’s certainly been your history.
I’ve followed your career forever and I know for certain that you will make it back all the way
which will surely be the story of the year.

Keep the Faith Ken!! God has a master plan for you, take it one day at a time. Hunter wants to watch a good round of golf soon, and he wants You on the Leader board. Don’t give up….

  5. Hey Ken,

I’m so sorry to hear about Hunter, and the pain and suffering that just seems to keep hitting you. God says He won’t give us more than we can handle, and it sure seems to speak to the fact that you have a lot more heart than you might think! We live in a fallen world, and God allows evil and pain until He comes again. But why it has hit you so hard I don’t think we’ll ever know this side of heaven. There is no doubt that your fight so far has inspired and helped so many folks already. I’m praying you’ll continue to have faith and hope as you continue the good fight. So many are pulling for you, and glad to hear you have Mr. Munch, and so many folks who love and care for you. I hope things keep going better with the little foot, and that Dr. Kostis can turn you into the one foot Paul Casey on the Champions Tour. If anyone can do it, it’s going to be you!! God bless as you continue to process all this and hope to see you out at the Champions Tour tournaments in Florida.

Ex Wives suck. I am one, but would NEVER act like yours has. She is an embarassment to all women. Shame on you Miss X!

  8. Jude says:

Mr. Green, I’m sure Hunter knows that you have always been with him. Now it’s his turn to watch over you and I’m sure he is doing that from his heavenly “green”. Rejoice for him because he is no longer subject to the suffering that so often comes with living here on earth, and know that you will meet him again in that wonderful place called heaven. God bless you. You are in my prayers.

    Mr. Green,
yet another piece of the turmoil is allowed to pass, it may not be up your alley, and maybe you won’t have time to see this, but other than yourself my re-assurances this week have come from 1)Pearl Jam- the song is “Just Breathe” of course the lyrics r the message, and 2)Randy Moss- to paraphrase him from a short while ago “I am a man, these shoulders are broad, you can put the world on them, and I can easily stand.”
Thanks again for being REAL and allowing others in. I never met you, but sleep well, Hunter.

  14. Don Scott says:

    Hey Ken…

We are all pulling for you, and I know in my heart of hearts that all will be well again for you. Maybe not the same, but well nonetheless.

Good luck on the swing, and I will look forward to seeing you back on the tour in no time. Then we will get to root for someone we know.

Take care, and may god hold yo in the palm of his hand until we meet again.

  16. Diana Vaughn says:

    Ken,
Continue your good or bad thoughts to “GOD” and he will take care of the rest as he always does! The day Hunter closed his eyes and his heart stopped beating is the day “GOD” took him home and it is now that he is at peace. I think is disgusting that a parent no matter how bad things were could lay there head down at night knowing that she didn’t allow u to be part of the decision of his burial. Again, what comes around goes around as I am sure we all have been there once in our lives. Continue to prove to not only yourself but, your family members who are watching you from above that you are strong believer and you will survive!
God bless you and your family and “Never Give Up”.

  17. Dick Cote says:

Ken there is no doubt in my mind that with your talent, personality and drive you can do this.
My thoughts and prayers are with you as you take the first steps on this journey.

  18. Ken,

Those Phantom Pain, are a true pain in the a–. Even seven years after my amputation, I still get them. You stated “whether we can accomplish this goal”. I have always believed it’s mind over matter, I don’t mind so it don’t matter. While you Rehab Doctors my not tell you…you have come farther then many new amputees. Heck I am still trying to straighten out my drive, but then again most of my time is spent doing Martial Arts, not golfing.

Many people see amputees as handicapped, unable to do many every day tasks. You are showing them that is not the case! I am looking forward to seeing on tour once again

  19. Alyssa says:

Our love and heart come back to you tenfold!

  20. Michael Roberts, The Woodlands, Texas says:

If you can lay your head down on your pillow every night and say to God, I have done my best…May God bless you as you deal with the death of your son and may He give you strength to deal with the angry (can I say pathetic assholes?) people who try to hurt you.

  21. Joseph Doceti says:

Lets go Little foot! All of us here In Danbury are pullin for you!We know your going to be GREAT again. We know you can do it!!

  22. Jean says:

It seems Hunters mother must be consumed with a deep seated anger and rage to not allow you to be part of this. My dad divorced his first or maybe his second wife years back and when his son died even though they were not close, she allowed him to go to the funeral. My dad just went to the wake a few hours before everyone else and said his good-byes so there would be no questions or pain for the mom and other family members. You should have been allowed that much!

  23. M-C says:

The answer has always been golf. Get back out there in Hunter’s name and persevere. You can do it.
I don’t know how this woman can be so selfish. You should have a say in all of this. In this instance all differences should have been put aside, he’s YOUR son just as much as hers and this should be about Hunter and not this obsessed power show. Your heart should be full of all of those you have lost. Channel the good spirit and let the “others” be consumed in their anger and their demons. You see beyond that and be the best that you can be.

    You’re in my thoughts.

  24. Alan Smith says:

    Ken,

Heard about Hunter last week and just saw the piece on Real Sports. What can do but wish you the very best in the future and hope you are able to find some peace. I so much admire and respect your courage and pray for better days ahead for you.

    Much love to you, Ken.

    Alan

PS – I was one of those who just LOVED your style ‘back in the day.’ You were a real person, for sure, and not some cookie-cutter tour pro with the personality of a goldfish. Yeah, I agree with what you said to Gumbel, that you would probably get in more trouble today.

  25. Tom Batewell (Fort Mill, SC) says:

    Can I get an AMEN!!!

    Awesome post Kenny!

Snow and Ice here in Fort Mill, reminds me of Danbury!

  26. Katie Youngblood says:

You’re gonna do stupendous. Love you, thinking of you

  27. Bill Winne (Bethel, CT) says:

    Ken,

Just remember now that Hunter is in a place where there is peace and love and there is no pain. I am still praying for you and he.

If there is anyone on this earth who can attack life and golf to the fullest extent, it is you! We all would love to see you up here in Danbury again this year if you can do it.

    Peace to you.

    Bill Winne
