KG’s Blog Post #50 – 4/27/10 8:00pm
Lip out continued,
Well, I’m going for 2 straight days of blog-o-meter. There is a chance of repeating myself, but I’m going to take that chance. A bright man would just look and see what he said already – the lights have been out for awhile.
I have not mentioned the Ben Hogan dinner, so I will start with that. It was just awesome. Before the dinner, I was able to talk to John Solheim of PING and simply said to him that I wanted to play the clubs that I did must of my life. I wanted to finish with what I started. He was very open to me playing the clubs and so here I go again. PING clubs and I are reunited.
The dinner was full of really great speeches, until of course I spoke. Life is kind of whacked out as Ernie Els told of his goal of fighting autism, which he never figured that he would be fighting such a tough battle. I wish him the best in finding a cure for this tough illness. I heard that 1 of 90 is affected by this now.
Anyway, I spoke of my love for the game and how without golf as a beacon I have no clue whether I would even be around right now. Tom Watson was the ultimate gentlemen as he said he felt like Obama receiving the Nobel Peace prize, he simply did not deserve to be honored while Ken Green sat there in front of him. A really class act.
Then I also proceeded to mumble numerous things that I can no longer remember, as I said before, I just wing these things.
At the conclusion of the event, I was notified that Mr. Munch had been barking for 2 hours and that he had escaped from the room and was wandering the halls and scaring the hell out of everyone. They managed to corridor him in the halls and the USA was safe for the moment. I told them that despite his size he was just a puppy and would listen to someone if they just called him back to the room. They were successful in capturing the nut and securing him back to the room. Some sandpaper and stain paint were needed to repair the damage and all was safe. I must say thanks to the Doubletree for not killing me with potential costs.
So now I simply revert back to golf. I played today and the swing was really good. The swing thoughts were actually really smooth as I was tension free – what a shock. It just tells me that with a little work we have a chance at really being halfway decent.
OK, that’s it for today and I will be back again to bore and enlighten you. Be good SHK.
