There were so many memories from the Ken Green benefit tournament Monday at Ridgewood Country Club. The one that symbolized everything was the 21 pros and television personalities posing for a group photograph before play started. Green was in the middle of the shot. The caring support was clear for Green, as he comes back from that horrific RV accident. … In all, 20 players from the PGA & Champions Tour came out to support Green, including his good friend Mark Calcevecchia.  Along with Calc were Michael Allen, Greg Kraft, Phil Blackmar, Ronnie Black, Andy Bean, Fred Funk, Tim Simpson, Blaine McCallister, Mike Reid, Brad Bryant, Mike Goodes, Bill Britton, Russ Cochran, Bob Gilder, Chip beck, Bob Tway and Mike Hulbert. CBS TV golf announcers David Feherty and Peter Kostis were also on hand.  I am writing a column for Tuesday’s Connecticut Post but here’s all the extra stuff that I didn’t use. Enjoy…

…A lifetime later, the best golfer ever to swing a club in Danbury still wipes childhood memories from his eyes.  “I wasn’t sure about coming back here,” Green said Wednesday, nearly four months after the RV accident in Mississippi that took his brother, his girlfriend, his dog and his lower right leg.  “I went to see the house I grew up in the other day, and I just kind of sat there,” Green said. “We never had any grass in our backyard because all the kids wore it out playing sports. It was a little hard going back. It was eerie and teary at the same time.”  After years of playing in benefit golf tournaments to help others in Danbury, Ken Green finds himself on the other side of the check presentation this time…
